A devasting earthquake struck Northern Israel - - Safet Artists and Products
Did you know, in 1837, (24th of Tevet, acknowledged this year January 10th, 2010) a devasting earthquake struck Northern Israel killing four thousand Jews in Safet and between 700 to 1000 Jews in Tiberias. Many of the survivors migrated to Hebron.
Safet was the city where Joshua began the systematic destruction of idol worship, preparing the land of Canaan to become the Land of Israel. Modern Safet dates back to the 16th century, when it was home to many illustrious Sages.
