Art: Tree of Life

This is a philosophical piece. A modern interpretation of the Biblical verse that compares Man to “the tree of the field” (Deuteronomy 20:19). The tree in the center symbolizes man, the individual. This man is constantly torn between two elements. The first is Materialism, which is earth, where the trees roots are. The other element is spiritualism. Man wish for a higher meaning. This is represented by the tree top and sky. The contrast between day and night time, between the green leaves to the yellow ones, symbolizes the constant character of this crisis. The dove, a traditional symbol for peace, symbolizes the wish for an harmonic path between these two often conflicting elements. Image size: 11 x 14 inches.
